There’s a new (final) season of The Dragon Prince up on Netflix, but I probably won’t get to it for a while. Right now I’m going through Jentry Chau vs. the Underworld and Interior Chinatown; the latter feels like a crime procedural take on Redshirts?
I don’t know if I’ll be able to do a Note next week, as I might be busy.
The original topic I jotted down for this week was good, but it felt like a not-so-great thing to end the year on. Will still probably do it, for some time or another…
State of the Blog - 2024
Or rather, the state of, like, my online activities right now.
I’m going to be real with you: this year was a bit rough. There was an incredible, adventurous vacation in there*, but a lot happened that wasn’t so great. I’m in a dour mood more and more these days; I didn’t even participate in National Novel Writing Month this year. So, uh, wanted to do a quick update on things:
Saturday Notes: Saturday Notes are scheduled to continue, as far as I know. I don’t see any reason why not, truth be told. I sometimes run out of ideas, but I almost always get something out for the week, so that my total of three readers have something to kind of look forward to at the end of the week.
Book Diary: I am once again considering discontinuing this. I’d (maybe) still write reviews on Goodreads, but given how most people don’t seem to care much about this, I don’t know if there’s that much point. Then again, I like doing it, and it gives me a good way to not only keep track of what I’ve read, when I’ve read it, what other things I was reading around that time, and what my headspace I was in.
You guys let me know! Obviously, I’m not going to stop reading, though recently I had the thought that maybe instead of reading on my lunch break, I should try writing. So possibly less reading, maybe?
Sporkings: Right now, sporkings aren’t in a great place. ImpishIdea is dead, as far as I can tell, and not coming back. I vaguely have the idea that I would just re-post all of that somewhere else. The problem is that there are some things with the Angelopolis sporkings that I would definitely do if I was writing it now (mostly, all of the swearing, though also some cleaning up of some issues with my criticisms). And I’m not sure I want to, like, go through and edit them all again, and I definitely don’t think I want to re-do a sporking of Angelopolis. That would require re-reading it. And that book was… bad.
Then again, there’s apparently a follow-up to that book coming up.
And I would like to finish sporking the first three Iron Druid books, and talk about a couple of others. I don’t know. Post that on my own? Find another sporking community? Das_Sporking might still be looking for people.
Thoughts are welcome.
Annotations: I still haven’t done annotations, I’m sorry. I started working on a website/blog thing for it, though. I would very much like to do that, though. It would feel like I can actually prove I know things, though, and am not completely useless.
Movie Tumblr: The Movie Munchies blog on Tumblr is still going, if only because I’d feel bad if I didn’t keep it going. It’s a roughly once-a-week thing.
Substack: I had the odd thought the other day that I write enough/have enough opinions to have a Substack. That being said, I don’t have enough readers to justify it, and doubt I could get that many. And by the time I started this, I’d probably be on the far tail-end of the trend of Substack, and no one would care. I mean, that happened with Skype–I know tons of people who loved Skype, and were always on it, and by the time I really got to use it a lot, everyone had moved on.

*And if you’re friends with me on Facebook, those photos are all up as of this week! Finally! They’re nicely organized into albums, because I’m not one of those Instagram barbarians that doesn’t organize photos in any way.
